GHMC polls: CP briefs Governor about attack on Congress leaders
Hyderabad: Hyderabad city Police Commissioner Mahendar Reddy had a meeting with Governor ESL Narasimhan on Thursday in the backdrop of untoward incidents in Old city on the day of GHMC polling.
CP Mahendar Reddy briefed Governor Narasimhan about the actions taken in connection with the the incidents of MIM activists' attack on Congress leaders - TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and Mohammed Shabbir Ali and their convoy in the Old city in the backdrop of GHMC elections on Tuesday.
Earlier, Governor Narasimhan sought an explanation on the Old city incidents and actions taken after the leaders from all parties complained to him over the attacks. CP explained about the attacks on Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali's son at Mir Chowk in Azampura in Old city. It is learnt that CP said to Governor that the culprits are being identified through the video footage and will be arrested soon.
Telangana PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and senior Congress leader Mohammed Shabbir Ali were attacked by MIM party workers lead by their party chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi, and suffered minor injuries and the former's car was also damaged at Mir Chowk in Old city on the day of GHMC polling on February 2.
