Get rid of both the ministers: CPM
New Delhi: The CPM has requested the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get rid of both the union ministers, Smriti Irani and Bandaru Dattatreya. They criticized them for their roles in the suicide of HCU scholar Rohith Vemula in the editorial of their periodical ‘People’s Democracy'. They also demanded that the VC of HCU, Apparao, be dismissed for his role in the death of Rohith Vemula.
The editorial also sought for a case to be booked against Bandaru Dattatreya under the Preventions of Atrocities against SCs and STs Act.
In the past, even for a small incident the government would take the moral responsibility for it, but now, even after the death of the research scholar nobody is accepting the moral responsibility for it, criticized the editorial.
Even when there was no need to take action against the Dalit students belonging to the ‘Ambedkar Students Association (ASA), it was due to the Secunderabad MP’s letter to the HRD minister Smrithi Irani that the students were suspended. Since both Dattatreya and Smriti Irani had a role to play in the death of Rohith Vemula, CPM demanded to suspend both of them.
