Four Telangana RS members to work from Andhra
Ironically, K Kesav Rao, TRS RS member, will now represent AP, where TRS has no presence.
The lottery procedure for allotment of members in the Rajya Sabha to the States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, which will formally come into being on June 2 has been completed.
The same has lead to much heartburn among leaders as many leaders from Telangana are now forced to function for AP, and vice versa.
Undivided Andhra Pradesh was allotted 18 Rajya Sabha seats. After the lottery, Andhra Pradesh will have 11 members in the Rajya Sabha, while the new state will get a share of seven seats in the Upper House.
K Keshav Rao, Renuka Chowdhury, Garikapati Mohan Rao, MA Khan, Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar, Palvai Goverdhana Reddy, T Devender Goud, V Hanumantha Rao and Gundu Sudharani belong to Telangana.
T Subbirami Reddy, Seetharama Lakshmi, K Chiranjeevi, KVP Ramachandra Rao, CM Ramesh, Jesudasu Seelam, Jairam Ramesh, YS Chowdary and Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy (who died recently) belong to Andhra Pradesh.
As per the nativity, nine of them belong to Telangana region and nine to AP. Under AP quota, one seat is vacant due to the demise of Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy.
Incidentally, four seats that have MPs from Telangana region have now been allotted to Andhra.
