Flipkart follows Amazon to Hyderabad, opens its largest FC - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Once is chance, twice is coincidence and thrice is a pattern. In what could be developing into a pattern, large retailing businesses such as Amazon and Flipkart are setting up their largest warehouses in the city.

Just this June, Amazon India opened its largest fulfillment centre (FC) in India in the outskirts of Hyderabad. Spread over a sprawling 280,000 square feet the facility had come up with the largest investment by Amazon in any state, to help the local SME’s to benefit from the online marketplace.

On Friday, the 30th of October, India’s biggest e-commerce company, Flipkart, has inaugurated its largest fulfillment centre in India, in Hyderabad. Spread over 220,000 square feet, the facility has 5.89 lakh cubic feet of storage space.

This state-of-the-art facility is equipped with a conveyor belt that is a kilometer long and saves motion wastage by 75 percent. Flipkart will ship out 1.2 lakh items every day from this FC.

This is definitely a shot in the arm for the Telangana government that is striving to promote Hyderabad as an ideal business destination. Projects such as the T Hub, which is a business incubation centre for start-ups in Hyderabad and the single-window clearance initiative for business investments in the state, have been steps in the right direction for being seen as a business friendly state.
