Fissures in Sarath Kumar's AISMK Ahead of Assembly Polls in TN
Chennai: Fissures are appearing in the All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) Party ahead of the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
Senior AISMK leader Ernavur A Narayanan deserted the party and announced his loyality to AIADMK led by J Jayalalithaa. Addressing the media on Thursday, Ernavur Narayanan alleged that Sarath Kumar is planning to take anti-AIADMK stance in the forthcoming elections. He said going forward all dealings with AISMK will be taken up legally. That was a hint for political observers about the cracks in the party.
Also, AISMK secretary Nagarajan and other secretaries have also announced their decision to quit the party.
Jolted by the sudden desertions, Sarath Kumar called for an emergency party meeting on Thursday. The meeting "unianimously" decided to remove all deserts from the party. Meanwhile, Sarath Kumar reiterated that his party will align with the AIADMK in the forthcoming polls.
Incidentally, Sarath Kumar contested on the AIADMK ticket in the previous elections despite leading the AISMK party. Similar was the case with Ernavur Narayanan who won on the AIADMK ticket.
