Kadapa: Andhra Pradesh NGOs leader Ashok Babu made sensational statements here today. He said the fight for Special Category Status (SCS) to AP has turned out into a battle of political one-upmanship. Unfortunately each political party was fighting individually against the central government and it was not the right way, he said.

The NGO leader said that during the state's bifurcation, no one had asked for SCS to AP for only 10 years. It was of no use to continue the fight for SCS when the BJP had clearly announced that the status would not be granted to AP, he said. "It was the people who were suffering due to such protests," he said.

Ashok Babu said that if employees participate in protests for SCS, the entire government machinery would be hit. He was surprised that the parties which had written letters for state's bifurcation were now demanding SCS.
