Farmer suicides: Telangana governament hikes ex-gratia to 6 lakh
Hyderabad: Telangana Governament has hiked the ex-gratia for the families of farmers who committed suicides. This newly taken decision is applicable for the families of farmers who committed suicides since the formation day of Telangana State, ie., June 2, 2014.
The decision has come after the cabinet meeting on Thursday, which has hiked the ex-gratia from 1.4 lakh to 6 lakh. The decision comes in the wake of the alround criticism of inadequate ex-gratia to the families of farmers who killed themselves.
Telangana government has taken this decision in order to protect the bereaved families of farmers and to curb the suicides of farmers, which have been increasing in the state of late.
The officials said in the communiqué that the government was taking all the necessary steps to stop the tragic incidents in the state.Through this decision, the Telangana is giving one lakh more towards the ex-gratia than neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
