Sanjay Dutt’s Afghan King Role In Panipat Raises Expectations

Actor Sanjay Dutt plays a lead role in the periodic drama Panipat alongside Kriti Sanon and Arjun Kapoor. The actor known for iconic roles in Hindi cinema will be portraying the antagonist Ahmad Shah Dhurrani, a ruler of Afghanistan’s Dhurrani Empire where he fought against the Maratha Empire. The film is based on the third Battle of Panipat that occurred on January 14, 1761.

Sanjay Dutt who is essaying the role of an Afghan King was spotted with his team undergoing make-up, hair and costume trials for his character. The actor has a very extensive shoot schedule for the film and has started shooting from the 1st week of December and will continue shooting till March end for his role of Ahmad Shah Dhurrani.

A source closer to the actor reveals, “The makers choose him for the versatility and the conviction with which he plays such roles and fans love him for the way he slips into his character. His dark role in Agneepath was much loved by the audience and his role in Panipat of an Afghan King has already raised high expectations from his fans. The film is shot in Mumbai where the era is created.

The actor has played very hard on his looks to get into the skin of the character. For the prep of his role, he tried out an array of costumes and accessories, Sanjay Dutt also tried different types of beards since his character will be required to flaunt long facial hair in the film. The character will also be sporting a short crop. The film is slated to release on December 6, 2019.
