Don Srinu arrested in Chittoor

A notorious red sander smuggler was arrested on Wednesday in a massive hunt currently in progress in Chittoor district, against red sander smugglers.

Midukupuru police arrested Srinivasula Naidu from Kadapa, who is well known as Don Srinu , in Tirupati. 

He is the main accused in the smuggling of red sanders. 

More than 3,000 smugglers were arrested last year and 2,025 tonnes of red sander was seized. These arrests were made mostly from Chittoor and its neighboring districts.  

According to reports, the police have a preliminary list consisting of 50 notorious smugglers of Chittoor and Kadapa districts and they have intensified combing operation to nab them.

On Thursday last,  police shot dead three red sander smugglers in the forests near Tirumala when the latter attacked the police.
