Doctors Treating World’s Heaviest Woman Abstain From Duties As Protest

Eman Ahmed was brought to Saifee Hospital in Mumbai for treatment in February - Sakshi Post

New Delhi: Amidst the controversy surrounding the weight loss of Eman Ahmed, world's heaviest woman, 12 doctors out of 13 have refrained from duties from her daily treatment.

Dr Muffazal Lakdawala tweeted, "Truth shall eventually prevail. It's like the sun u try and cover it as much as u want it will shine thru & burn your hands in the process (sic)," in a veiled reference to the claim made by Eman's sister Shaimaa Selim.

Eman weighed around 500 kg when she was brought to Saifee Hospital here for treatment in February and doctors claim that Eman is now down to 171 kilograms. However, her sister Shaimaa has alleged that the doctors traeting Eman have made "false claims" about her actual weight loss and "complete recovery" in a video released recently.

To this, the doctors submitted symbolic resignation letters to the authorities of Saifee Hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday. "We will not see her on a daily basis and only go when the patient needs us. Whatever has happened is extremely disappointing,” said Dr. Aparna Govil Bhasker, one of the doctors in Dr. Mufazzal's team.

The Egyptian woman was finally put into a CT scan machine on Tuesday, and the scans did not reveal any fresh brain ailment. Her CT scan procedure was pending for long as the scan machine can take the maximum weight up to 204 kg. Dr. Aparna claimed that Selim’s allegations stem from the fact that she does not want to take Eman home.
