Distressed Polytechnic Student Ends Life Due To Harassment At Hostel
Hyderabad: Close on the heels of a student suicide at Ratnapur Agriculture Polytechnic College, another 17-year-old girl polytechnic student committed suicide on late Sunday at Turkala Khanapur in Sangareddy district.
A. Sahasra, a second year student, left a suicide note saying, “I’m unable to bare the seniors harassment and the dismal facilities at hostel." The distressed girl in her note also requested her parents not to admit her brother in any hostel. The incident came to light after her roommates saw her hanging.
The girl's father Anakapalli Rajasekhar blamed the management for her daughter’s death and staged a dharna at the college premises. The agitated father said that Sahasra many times complained about trouble from her seniors and lack of female warden among many other issues.
I took the matter to AO Bikshapathi, but it was of no use. They were deaf to our plead which resulted in our daughter death
"I took the matter to AO Bikshapathi, but it was of no use. They were deaf to our plead which resulted in our daughter death," rued Rajasekhar. Police have registered a case and are probing the matter.
Earlier this month, Shravya (17) ended her life on August 9 and State Human Rights Commission issued notice to look into the matter.
