Dilip Kumar Hospitalised
Mumbai: Known as the king of tragedy, veteran actor Dilip Kumar was admitted to Leelavati Hospital here on Wednesday morning after he complained of fever and swelling in one of his legs
The actor was also hospitalised earlier this year after he suffered from high fever. Saira Banu was to take him for his regular check-up shortly but was alerted by the swelling accompanied by a fever and so decided to take her husband in for an earlier check-up.
She expressed hope that she would be able to take the 94-year-old actor who is currently under observation, home in time for his birthday on Sunday. Dilip Kumar’s birthday is something of an annual Bollywood event where affectionate and self-proclaimed fans of the actor such as Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachan make it a point to visit the veteran film star and convey their wishes.
Known for his films such as Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam, Ganga Jamuna, Naya Daur and Madhumati among others the thespian was born as Mohammad Yusuf Khan but adopted Dilip Kumar as his screen name. He was last seen in the film "Qila" in 1998.
The actor was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
