Deprived of pension, old woman dies of shock

An old-age pension seeker, Pilla Lakshmi , died due to shock after her name was found deleted from the list of beneficiaries in Vijayawada on Monday.

Thanks to AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu's Aadhar-linked weeding out of the names of beneficiaries for old age pensions, several senior citizens have been deprived of their names.
According to reports, the elderly woman, who has been taking the pension for the past two years, received shock of her life when she found her name missing from the list.
She went to the corporation office to check with the officials and collapsed soon after she came to know that her name was removed from the list.
Following her death, several YSRCP activists, CPM members and scores of women staged a dharna before the corporation office along with Lakshi's body.
Raising slogans against the Government, they demanded an immediate action against the officials who removed her name.
