Delhi pollution level at odds with AAP claim
Despite the Odd - Even restriction, the air quality of National Capital remained 'very poor' on Day 1.
System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), which monitors Delhi's air quality said this was due to atmospheric conditions and said said that air quality in Delhi was expected to deteriorate in the next few days. This could be due to the rise in the level of particulate matter and fall in night temperature. Calm wind movement could also add to the woes as it did not allow the pollutants to get dispersed.
Interestingly, ruling AAP claimed a sharp reduction in pollution due to car rationing experiment. But, the scientists said pollution in Delhi goes up at dawn and then gradually comes down.
SAFAR stations in Delhi displayed 'very poor' real-time Air Quality Index. The Union Government forecast too largely corraborated with these figures.
