Death toll in cyclone rises to 35 in AP - Sakshi Post

The death toll in the devastating cyclone 'hudhud' rose to 35 on Wednesday while over 1.35 lakh people are rehabilitated in the relief camps set up by the state government.


The maximum number of 25 deaths in various rain-related incidents are reported from the worst-hit Visakhapatnam. In neighbouring Vizianagaram districts eight people were killed and two others died in Srikakulam district, the state disaster management department said in a statement.


It said more than 1.35 lakh people are rehabilitated in the relief camps and 6,85,000 people are provided food in the camps, the statement said. 


The cyclone of about 180 kmph gale and heavy rainfall crippled Visakhapatnam and other coastal districts of Vizianagaram and Srikakulam on October 12th, leaving a trail of destruction behind.
