Dalit activists stage protest near Kodandaram's house
The controversy between Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman M Kodandaram and Major Industries Minister J Geeta Reddy is refusing to die down with Dalit organisations staging a protest at the residence of Kodandaram at Tarnaka in Hyderabad on Friday.
Demanding an apology to the minister, Dalit activists supported by MRPS and MSF staged protest at Kodandaram's residence but were arrested by the police. Raising slogans against him, they blocked traffic. The police managed to disperse the group and brought the situation under control.
Though the TJAC chief had tendered an unconditional public apology to the minister recently, the activists are now demanding that he give a written apology.
The Zaheerabad police on Thursday booked a SC atrocities case against Kodandaram when Rashtriya Dalit Sena president Purushottam Rao and others lodged a complaint alleging that Kodandaram had made derogatory remarks against the minister.
