Punjab Man Kills Five Family Members Before Shooting Self
Punjab: A man killed five members of his family, including his three-year-old niece, before committing suicide in Punjab on Friday night. The incident happened at Nathuwala Garbi village in Baghapurana of Moga district in Punjab.
According to police, Sandeep Singh alias Sunny (27) shot dead his grandmother, father, mother, sister and her three-year-old daughter with a revolver. He then shot himself.
However, his grandfather received bullet injuries in the incident and survived the attack. He was taken to a district hospital where doctors referred him to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot. His grandfather is critical.
Police is trying to ascertain the exact cause of the trigger.
Preliminary investigation shows that Sandeep stole the revolver from a relative to commit the crime.
Police told a leading daily that Sandeep was impotent and unemployed. His family also wanted to marry which he was opposed to. His family had fixed his marriage for December, and he was at loggerheads with them for the reason.
Police suspect that the trigger could be that.
The Baghapurana police have registered a case of murder under the Arms Act.
In another incident in Rajasthan's Alwar, a woman allegedly killed her two minor children before committing suicide here.
Police said that her husband of Papeeta Meena (25) had died some time ago and she was under depression. She had strangulated her 13-month-old son and two-year-old daughter before hanging herself at her home in Madanpuri village.
