Triple Talaq Over Asking Husband For Rs 30

Noida: Even as the triple talaq bill is pending in the Parliament criminisalsiing it on one hand, the spate of triple talaq divorces continues unabated. In a recent incident a man gave his wife, triple talaq just because she asked him for Rs 30 to buy vegetables. Her husband Sabir (32) had also apparently hit her and then gave triple talaq. The incident came to light on Saturday in Dadri at Uttar Pradesh's Noida region.

According to the victim’s father his daughter (30) was being harassed by her husband since the time of marriage. Unable to bear the physical harassment she had come home, stayed with her parents for a few days, and returned. Sabir started harassing her again and on Saturday when she asked for Rs 30 to buy vegetables he attacked her with a screw driver and gave talaq on that flimsy reason.

A case was registered in the Dadri police station against Sabir and his family members under sections 498A (domestic violence) and various other sections of the Indian Penal Code.
