Newlywed Gang-raped By Husband, Brother-in-law On First Night

Muzaffarnagar: A newly-married woman was gang-raped by her husband and his brother-in-law in Uttar Pradesh.

The incident took place in a village situated in the outskirts of Muzaffarnagar. The 26-year-old victim was raped on the night of her wedding. The incident is learned to have taken place on March 6 but came to light on Thursday.

A day after the assault, the victim was taken to a hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.

According to the victim's brother, the two accused were under the influence of alcohol when they raped the woman. Accusing the husband's family of being greedy and demanding dowry from them, he informed that he had spent Rs 7 lakh on his sister's wedding.

An FIR was registered by the police against the accused and his family under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Dowry Act.

Just days before, a minor was gang-raped near the Jahangir Bagh in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. The girl was kidnapped and gang-raped by the highway robbers, who left the victim in semi-conscious state inside a school in Bulandshahr.
