Consular Access Given To Pakistani National In Tihar Jail
Hyderabad: Mohammad Usman, the arrested Pakistani national, who illegally crossed the borders and came to India, was caught by the city police in a case of cyber crime. Police completed the important process of “ Consular access” in this case, two days ago in Tihar jail. Consular access is going to prove his nationality, and determine whether he is Indian or a Pakistani. CCPS DCP Avinash Mohanty said “ key documents have been submitted to the Pakistani consulate.”
A woman from old city went to Dubai in search of livelihood, where she met Mohammad Usman Ikram alias Mohammad Abbas Ikram, a Pakistani national.
Later he married her claimign that he was from Delhi. After coming to know of the truth, she left him and came back to Hyderabad. In 2011 Usman also came to Hyderabad, and said that he was on a visit visa for 6 months”, while he actually he came to Nepal through a flight. He then travelled via road and rail to Delhi and finally landed up in Hyderabad.
The lady learnt about Ikram’s visit, but kept no contact with him. A humiliated and enraged Ikram, took revealing pictures of her 12 year-old daughter and blackmailed her claiming that he sold that pictures to someone. Ikram demanded money from the minor victim’s mother, through her friend.
The lady has lodged a complaint with the City Cyber crime police station. Ikram was arrested by the police last month, and was on remand. In the investigation police found the accused produced many fake documents in the name of Abbas and had even taken a passport in that name. Ikram also worked in some of the private companies using those certificates.
At the time of his arrest police found few educational certificates from the accused, which show that he completed his tenth and degree from private institutions in Maharastra. A passport was found issued with the Golnaka address in the year of 2012. The person who helped Ikram in procuring these fake certificates has also been arrested.
The cyber crime police under CCPC shifted the accused to Tihar jail with the court's permission, almost a week ago. Officials from the Pakistan consulate have met the accused in the jail and have collected documents in the case. Police have given them a copy of the paper from his Pakistani passport, which is technically called “Consular access”. After checking the authenticity of the documents, they are going to grant him necessary documents to travel.
If he is convicted based on this documents, then after serving the sentence, he has to leave India. If the Pakistani consulate says that he is not a Pakistani, then serious technical issues might arise in this case. The investigation is going be taken forward after the reply from the Pakistan consulate.
