Despite Trolls, Controversies Sanjay Manjrekar Walks Away With Fat Pay Cheque
Hyderabad: Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar whose bitter criticism of Ravinder Jadeja was one of the biggest sub-plots of the World Cup has also been trolled vehemently on social media. But despite all the trolls and controversies, Majrekar is believed to have been paid huge sums for playing cricket.
According to reports, Sanjay Manjrekar receives Rs 42 lakh per series. His annual income comes to a total of Rs six crore which includes IPL and international fixtures.
Recently, after India had lost a match to England in the World Cup, Manjrekar had criticised a few players, including the seasoned Mahendra Singh Dhoni and opener K L Rahul. The Mumbaikar referred to Jadeja as a 'bits and pieces player'. The comment did not go down well with Jadeja, who took to Twitter to express his anger.
"Still I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I am still playing. Learn to respect people who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea," Jadeja had written on Twitter.
But Jadeja silenced all his critics with a brilliant 77 runs off just 58 balls as he took India close to the target after the top order collapsed in the World Cup semis against New Zealand. Although India lost by 18 runs, Jadeja's performance had won hearts.
Manjrekar had tweeted, “Well played Jadeja!” with a wink emoticon and Twitter was flooded with trolls against him for his 'sarcastic' use of the emoji.
