Cricket betting creates ripples in Guntakal TDP

News of cricket betting created a sensation in political circles at Guntakal in Anantapur district.

Police have arrested about four bookies at Tadipatri, Thursday. In the interrogations, they informed the police that one Venkata Sivudu Yadav is their main bookie. 

Interestingly, Yadav is a Telugu Desam Party leader and has been trying his level best to get party ticket to contest from Guntakal assembly constituency in the next elections. 

Yadav is very close to senior leader of TDP Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, and through the latter, Yadav is pressurizing the party leadership to get the ticket this time. Due to Yadav's closeness to Yanamala, the expectations are such that Yadav will surely get  ticket this time. 

Even party politburo member and former MP Kalva Srinivasulu also said recently that Yadav would surely get party ticket this time. 

On his part, Yadav is also actively participating in various events in the constituency. 

The police have arrested four persons, Sudarshan, Jagan Mohan, Janardhana Reddy and Sriramulu, who were involved in cricket betting on Thursday.  They recovered some amount of cash and five cell phones from them. 

The police officials said that they would arrest all other main bookies after observing the bank account numbers and transactions of all of them.
