CPM, CPI activists held for protesting power tariff hike - Sakshi Post

CPM state Secretary BV Raghavulu and CPI state secretary K Narayana were arrested by the police for staging a sit-in protest against the power hike at the collectorate office in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Demanding that the government withdraw the increased power tariff, the left parties CPI, CPI (M) and CPI (ML)  held demonstrations in front of the collectorate.

They also threatened to intensify their agitation unless government revoked its decision on the revised power tariff.

Criticizing the government, they said that the power hike was a huge burden on the consumers as they are already worst hit by increase in prices of essential commodities.

The police, however, arrested Raghavulu, K Narayana and several other activists.
