Couple Sells Baby To Buy Cell Phone, Saree

Odhisa: A married couple was arrested on Wednesday for selling their one-year-old son at Bhadrak. They bought a cell phone, saree and an anklet with the money.

According to the police, Pandya Mukhi and Barsha Mukhi are the residents of Kuansh village at Bhadrak and the couple has three kids. Unable to feed their two sons and a daughter, they sold their younger son to a driver of same village for Rs45,000. The couple then bought a cell phone, a saree and a silver anklet.

On learning about the selling of the baby, the Child Line raided the house of the driver and rescued the child. The police arrested the couple and them for remand.
