Cong not fulfilling promises: Gottipati

Rebel MLA from Congress, Gottipati Ravikumar on Monday responded to the Speaker's notice on defying the party whip and voting in favor of the no-confidence motion in the Assembly.

He offered an explanation for his actions in his reply.

He told the speaker that he defied the whip as the Congress party did not meet its promise of ensuring a 9-hour power supply in the state which was mentioned in the party's manifesto.

"The state is facing acute power shortage like never before," he said, adding that the state government be held responsible for the power crisis. In his reply, Gottipati appealed to the Speaker to take an early decision on action for defying party orders. He also requested the Speaker to give a chance for by polls.
