Amma Hastham is waste of public money: TDP

If Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy thought he could woo people with his new 'Amma Hastham' scheme, then he's in for a disappointment. While some claim that the scheme suffers from severe lack of resources, the main opposition party in the state, TDP has its own take on the scheme.

On Monday, the party flayed the ruling party saying the scheme would only waste hundreds of crores of public money.

TDP MLAs Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu and Bojjala Gopala Krishna Reddy called Amma Hastham scheme a 'Bhasmasura Hastham'.

As per the scheme, the break-up of expenditure would be Rs. 660 crores for essentials, Rs. 350 crores for packs and Rs. 700 crores for advertisements. The TDP has slammed the government saying the amount spent on advertisements would be more than that of others. The TDP leaders also alleged that the government has announced 9 types of essential provisions only for name shake. Most commodities have stones in them, they added.
