CM’s paper ads misguiding people, says Narayana
CPI State secretary K Narayana on Thursday took strong exception over the government advertisements appeared in the press that the Opposition parties were doing false publicity against the electricity charges hike in the State.
In a letter dashed to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Narayana demanded the latter to accept a challenge and come forward to discuss face-to-face on the power charges hike. The CPI leader said the advertisements appeared in the name of Chief Minister were misguiding the people.
The average charge was only mentioned in the newspaper advertisement and there was no mention about the tariff on the other slabs. Narayana said it was not correct to mention in the ad that consumable limit of 500 watts of load was removed. He demanded that the government should make public the letter forwarded to ERC (Electricity Regulation Commission).
Narayana observed that there would be a no need to raise power charges if the government exerted pressure on the Centre for state’s share of gas from KG basin. Instead, the government had put pressure on ERC for purchase of RLNG (Regasified liquefied natural gas). Narayana exhorted the Chief Minister not to waste lakhs of public money on paper advertisements to misguide the people and asked him to prepare and come forward for a concrete discussion on the power crisis.
