CM Kiran slams Oppn on power strikes
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday said the government acted with responsibility on the power charges without burdening the people despite heavy expenditure on power generation.
Speaking at a meeting in connection with Jyothirao Phule death anniversary, Kiran Reddy lashed out at the Opposition parties for creating unnecessary show on the power charges. He clarified that the power generation cost of discoms has been raised from Rs 34,000 crore to Rs 40,000 crore. But the government was giving power at Rs 1.45 per unit for the consumers using between 1-50 units as against its actual cost of Rs 3.80. A subsidy of 72 per cent was borne by the government, Kiran Reddy said.
