CM KCR to inaugurate first 2-bedroom flats colony in city - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Though the construction work was not completed on time, a part of the the Two-Bedroom flats that were being built in IDH colony of Bhoiguda, Secunderabad - for the people living Below Poverty Line (BPL) is now ready. As promised by the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the flats will be handed over to the beneficiaries at an inaugural function of the colony for which he had laid the foundation stone on Dusshera last year.

The two-bedroom flats are built on 580sq.ft each in an area of 6.1 acres, well connected to main roads with all the amenities like electricity, water and drainage systems. Though the construction was not completed in five months as promised by the CM at the time of the foundation stone laying ceremony, it is a dream come true for many poor families which gave away their small portions of land for the construction of the colony. The families were earlier living in small and unsafe houses in slums around the area in which the colony was constructed. Local MLA, state Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav was instrumental in convincing the people to give up their petty bits of land for better living and the construction of the colony is a landmark achievement for the TRS government. The lands were acquired from IDH Colony, Paarthiwaada, Ammuguda Huts, Subash Chandra Bose Nagar and Bhagat Singh Nagar.
As the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has now proven that it can make the construction of 400 houses per circle possible, many people from various slums across the city are coming forward to give away their small bits of lands to make the construction of many such colonies possible. Many are eagerly waiting to make their dreams of having an own house true.
The construction of the houses was a part of the SC, ST sub-plan which was completed with a cost of Rs. 36.53 crore. 396 plots were combined to form the colony, later to be divided into 11 blocks of G(+2) apartments. The construction work and completion of the work was thoroughly supervised and then approved for inauguration by the GHMC commissioner Janardhan Reddy on Saturday.
The decision was taken when KCR visited the IDH colony after a section of the roof of an old block G(+2) had collapsed in August 2014.
The break-up of costs of various works:
Construction of roads worth Rs. 116 lakh, excess rain-water pipelines worth Rs. 55.96 lakh, sewerage pipelines worth Rs. 74.36 lakh, drinking water pipelines worth Rs. 62.28 lakh, electricity supply worth Rs. 72 lakh, shops worth Rs. 50 lakh, community park and vegetable market worth Rs. 5 lakh, demolition and leveling costs Rs. 60 Lakh.
