Class 9 Student Suffers Head Injuries After Police Resort To Lathicharge

Anantapur: Three students, including a class 9 student, were grievously injured after the police resorted to lathicharge at District Collectorate here in the city on Monday. All the three students were rushed to a nearby hospital where one of them was reported to be critical as he suffered head injuries.

Scores of students under the banner of the Student Federation of India (SFI), staged a dharna before the Collectorate demanding that the problems pertaining to the education system in the district be resolved. At one point in time, the protesters entered into an argument with the police. Subsequently, scuffle ensued between them.

Later, the police used force against the students and the SFI leaders, who were leading them. This resulted in chaotic situation. The police higher ups are reviewing the situation at the Collectorate. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
