Chandrababu Reiterates Promise to Include Kapus in BC Quota - Sakshi Post

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday clarified that the GO 30 was only an expression of the then government's intention to include Kapus in Backward Classes for reservation after due examination of the socio-economic status of each sub-caste.Accordingly, various commissions constituted from time to time have recommended the inclusion of eight communities and four major communities including Balija, Ontari, Telaga and Shetti Balija are being examined, Chandrababu told reporters on Monday.

Reiterating his promise to include all the eligible Kapu communities in BC list, the CM said a constitutional process needs to be followed in this matter so that the order stands at law. "They have waited for 23 years after the GO was issued, but could not wait for some more time for an amicable solution," Chandrababu said and blamed some political parties for provoking Kapus towards violence.

"I have utmost regard for Kapus and especially East Godavari district that supported TDP all the time and gave 20 out of 21 Assembly constituencies in 1999 elections," Chandrababu said. The agitation and its aftermath were unprecedented in the history of the peaceful Godavari districts, he said and added that some political parties were behind the incidents which would only tarnish the image of the state.
