Chandrababu Naidu in a Fix Over Sadavarti Satram Land Auction
Hyderabad: AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu seems to be in a fix over Sardavarti land auction issue as three Hyderabad-based companies came forward offering Rs5 crore additional payment topping the auctioned bid. Chandrababu Naidu had earlier announced that his government will hand over the land if anyone offers even one rupee extra than the auctioned amount. According to the sources, three companies have expressed their interest in bidding Rs5 crore extra, but neither TDP government nor officials confirming it.

Sadavarti satram at Amaravati in Guntur district has 83.11 acres land in Mahabalipuram near Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The value of land is estimated to be over Rs 1,000 crore, but it was auctioned for a mere Rs22.4 crore. Ever since it was auctioned,
Chandrababu Naidu is facing criticism for involving his close associates to acquire the land at lesser price in the fabricated auction. Sakshi published a series of investigative stories on the malpractices involved in the auction. Feeling suffocated over the issue, the TDP government announced that if anyone offers even one rupee extra, it’s ready to hand over the Sadavarti satram land.
Manikyala Rao, AP Endowment Minister, has announced that if anyone offers higher bid for the land, the government is ready to accept it. The AP Advocate General has also officially informed the High Court that TDP government is open to hand over the land if any one offers Rs5 crore additionally. Subsequently, three Hyderabad-based firms came forward bidding Rs five crore higher than Rs22.44 crore and have sent their proposals to the AP government.
Since the AP government has officially informed the High Court about its decision, now there’s no option, but to hand over the land to the new bidders. Now, Naidu in a fix over the Sadavarti satram land issue, said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
Speaking to the media in Vijayawada on Wednesday, Chandrababu Naidu said: “ We’ll give land to anyone whoever offers Rs five crore higher than the auctioned amount of Rs22.44 crore. A section of media is writing baseless news items on this issue. They wrote that Sadavarti land is wroth Rs900 crore. If the government gets one percent extra, we’ll hand over the land. We’ll take legal action against whoever writes false stories on this issue.”
Chandrababu Naidu’s statements lack clarity as he said the government would hand over the land if it gets one percent of Rs900 crore contradicting his previous statement of Rs5 crore higher bid.
