Centre’s Shocker To Chandrababu On Polavaram Project

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu got a shock from the Centre on the state's most ambitious Polavaram project. The state government had sent a report to the Central Water Commission quoting an estimated cost of Rs 58,319 crore for the project. The commission hit back at the state government stating that the pegged figures were not accurate. It further posed 10 questions to the state government seeking an explanation. The Chandrababu Naidu government is yet to issue a clarification over the same.

According to an official statement, the earlier estimate as per 2010-11 price level put the cost at over Rs 16,000 crore. The revised estimate as per 2013-14 price level put the cost at Rs 58,319 crore.
