Central team to visit Hudhud-hit areas from Nov 25
A Central Government team will visit north coastal Andhra region from November 25 to assess the damage caused by Hudhud cyclone.
The state government will submit a detailed report to the team. While the state government has received Rs 400 crore out of the Rs 1,000 crore aid announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, proposals would be submitted for the remaining amount.
Visakhapatnam was one of the worst-affected districts due to Hudhud that had made a landfall here on October 12. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said an amount of Rs 255 crore was spent on the supply of essential commodities for people affected by the cyclone in districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam.
He said that enumeration for the damage caused to agriculture, horticulture, coffee plantation, fisheries, houses, loss of sheds of farmers in the cyclone had already been completed. The government had already asked the banks to re-schedule loans of the cyclone-hit farmers.
