Bride Jumps Out With Lover After Marriage, Groom Celebrates

A “small celebration of the great escape” - Sakshi Post

The Kerala man, who was infamously dumped by his bride at the Guruvayur temple, seems to have moved on from the incident and celebrated the "great escape" he managed.

The Kodungalloor native reportedly cut a cake, which was ordered originally for the reception, at his residence with his relatives and friends in attendance and celebrated the occasion.

Photos of the same, which he sent to a family group on WhatsApp with the caption a "small celebration of the great escape", are doing the rounds on social media.

Minutes after wedding, bride walked off with boyfriend

The marriage happened on Sunday. Minutes after the wedding at the renowned Sri Krishna Temple, the bride decided to dump the groom and go with her boyfriend. It turns out that her parents and relatives forced her into the marriage and she didn't get a chance to go with him before the wedding day. So she chose the D-Day for the act.

Social media took over the incident with most users criticising the girl for her actions, while some spoke in support of her. However, everyone seemed united while saying their hearts went out to the young man whose dreams were crushed minutes after his wedding.

But the man has bounced back from the 'tragedy', and celebrated the occasion.

Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple is considered as one of the most auspicious places to tie the knot, and it is believed that a marriage at the temple will last forever.

But the incident proves that even a Guruvayur wedding can turn out to be possibly the shortest tie-up in the world. The incident took place on July 30, during the marriage of a girl from Mullassery in Thrissur and native of Kodungalloor - just one of many marriages in Guruvayur that day.

There was nothing unusual till the marriage ceremony was completed and the bride and groom went to the sanctum sanctorum to offer prayers.

The bride then spotted her boyfriend among the devotees standing around the place. In a little over a minute, she decided to walk off with him.

As soon as the boyfriend appeared before the couple, the bride removed her new mangal sutra, handed it over to the groom and declared that she was going with her lover.

There are unconfirmed reports that the bride had warned the groom about her decision during the ceremony itself.

The groom soon alerted his relatives, who tried to persuade the bride, but she refused to budge. This led to a clash between the families of the bride and the groom, and temple authorities had to seek the help of police.

The bride informed the cops that her family forced her to get married against her will. The groom's family demanded Rs15 lakh as compensation. After negotiations, the girl's family agreed to pay Rs8 lakh and settled the matter.
