Boy Killed As Phone Explodes Due To Thunderbolt Strike

Nalgonda: A 16-year-old boy died after his mobile phone exploded due to a thunderbolt strike while he was speaking on phone in Nalgonda on Sunday.

Y. Mallesh, a native of Ambaripet Village Shaligauraram mandal in Nalgonda recently completed SSC and was staying at home. On Sunday morning, he went to their lemon orchard to water the plants along with his younger sister Sirisha(15). After he went to the orchard, sudden changes occurred in the climate and it started raining with thunderstorms and lightning.

His father called him on phone and asked Mallesh to return home immediately along with Sirisha. While speaking on phone with father, a thunderbolt struck near the orchard resulting in the explosion of his mobile phone. Mallesh died on the spot and his sister fell unconscious.

The parents rushed to the spot and shifted them to a hospital where the boy was declared dead. The girl was stated to be out of danger and is undergoing treatment.
