Bollywood To Flood Theatres With Biopics
Mumbai: Bollywood and every major actor is gearing up for a season of biopics that are sure to flood the theaters in the days and months ahead.
Prominent among them is undoubtedly the Sanjay Dutt biopic with Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. Helmed by ace director Rajkumar Hirani, known for hits like Munnabhai MBBS and PK, audience expect the film to be well-researched. The director is known to research his subjects well before commencing the shoot. His lead actor, Ranbir Kapoor, too is leaving no stone unturned to get into the character of the role. He reportedly put on over 13 kilos weight to gain a physique similar to Sanjay Dutt. If that is not enough, Ranbir will also sport tattoos like Sanjay Dutt.
The next big biopic is of Saina Nehwal. This movie has Shraddha Kapoor in the lead and Amol Gupte helming the megaphone. Shraddha has been reportedly preparing for the film by training under former badminton player Pullela Gopichand. But the film might be delayed. Reason? Shraddha is struggling to get the basics of the game right. After several days of practice, the actor is yet to look convincing with the racket!
Another sports biopic on the drawing board is the one on legendary Kapil Dev. The movie will focus on the heroics of Kapil Dev and his men in 1983, when they defeated the indomitable West Indian team. They won the World Cup literally snatching victory from the West Indies. The makers are planning to rope-in Ranveer Singh for the movie. Helmed by Kabir Khan, the movie will be backed by Phantom films.
If you think this is it, here comes another sports biopic. The Anil Kapoor-starrer will be a biopic on Olympic shooter Abhinav Bindra. Interestingly, the movie will feature Anil Kapoor and his son Harshvardhan Kapoor with the latter playing Abhinav Bindra. The senior Kapoor will ofcourse play Abhinav's father in the film.
