Hyderabad: Defying court orders and a heavy police bandobust against the beef festival, some student groups on Thursday conducted the event on the Osmania University campus.Prof. PL Vishweshwara Rao and some other faculty members of OU who supported the beef festival were arrested by the police. The opponents of the event belonging to Hindu organizations and followers of the BJP MLA Raja Singh Lodha were also taken into custody when they tried to enter the campus.

The pictures of students eating beef were released by some unidentified sources and the police immediately swooped on the hostels and tensions on the campus were mounting every minute.
