An army-man was taken into custody after he allegedly fired nearly dozen rounds in the air with his service weapon near here this evening, triggering panic in the area.

However, no one was injured in the incident which took place in Secunderabad, police said.

Ravi Shukla, posted as a gunner in 190 Artillery Regiment in Tadbund, fired nearly a dozen bullets in the air at around 5 PM outside the main gate of the regiment, triggering panic in the area, they said.

Shukla, who is in service for the last six years, had been reportedly suffering from psychiatric problems for the past couple of days. Army personnel immediately caught hold of Shukla and he is being questioned by defence authorities, a senior police officer said.
