APSRTC strike illegal, says High Court

Even as the RTC strike turned violent at places, particularly in Nalgonda, the AP High Court on Saturday said the APSRTC strike was illegal and directed the striking employees to immediately report to duties.

The court gave these directions in a PIL filed by TDP leader CL Venkat Rao, who wanted the HC to declare the strike illegal. The further hearing on the case has been posted for May 12.

Meanwhile, RTC employees turned violent and pelted stones on the plying buses. The police dispersed the protesters. Several buses were damaged in the stone-pelting. In another development, Telangana Mazdoor Union, a TRS affiliate, has said that its president and state irrigation minister Harish Rao was unequivocally supporting the agitation.
