APs' new capital to be 'AMARAVATHI'
The AP Government has decided to name its to be constructed capital ‘Amaravathi.’
Amaravathi historically was known Dhanya Kataka and was the capital of during the Satavahana era. However, Raja Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu has named it Amaravathi. The new capital would be located 20 km from the historic Amaravathi town, the seat of one of the five Arama Shiva temples and the seat of Budhist Kalachakra festivities.Though the announcement was to be made on March 21 as a part of the governments ‘UGADI’ celebrations at Anantha Varam village of Tulluru Mandalam in Guntur district , they had to go back on it given the lengthy celebration that stretched beyond the schedule. It is believed that the Chief minister has carried relevant papers describing the opulent history of Amaravathi. The information is expected to be announced officially very soon. A Government Order (GO) is expected in a day or two.
