AP Lawyers To Boycott Work Demanding Special Category Status

Hyderabad: In separate incidents, advocates from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana would abstain from work at High Court on Friday. While AP advocates boycott demanding Special Status to the state, Telangana advocates are continuing their agitation for bifurcation of High Court.

In view of the boycott call given by various district bar association in AP, the Andhra Pradesh High Court Advocates Association on Thursday took a call to boycott work expressing their solidarity demanding special category status (SCS) for AP.

“We will not attend any court work on Friday and stage protest. Special category status is the right of AP people. We are not begging for it,” AP Bar Council member Muppala Subba Rao said.

Meanwhile, Telangana advocates have decided to boycott work on Friday due to issuance of contempt proceedings against 13 advocates, who indulged in high handed behavior demanding separate High Court for Telangana.
