AP Govt. nods for bauxite mining despite uproar
Vishakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Government has given green signal for bauxite mining in Vishakha agency by releasing a GO No. 97 of excavations on Thursday evening despite a huge protest and stirs against it.
According to the GO, the AP government has given the permission for excavations of bauxite in 1212 hector land in Narsipatnam reserve forest, allotting the relevant responsibilities to APMDC.
AP government in a directive stated that excavations, however, should be done within Supreme Court guidlines.
The tribal residents in Chithapally, Jarrela areas are upset with the AP Government's decision.
