AP CM Uploads Rape Victim’s Photo On Twitter, Removes After Being Trolled 

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has yet again committed a gaffe by posting a photograph of a minor rape victim on the social media.

Causing deep embarrassment to the victim, Chandrababu Naidu uploaded the photograph of the minor girl and revealed her name on his Twitter handle to gain mileage on the social media.

A girl was allegedly raped for a period of 50 days by an ex-serviceman. After being rescued from the clutches of the offender, she along with her parents approached the Chief Minister seeking financial assistance.

Following the meeting, Chandrababu Naidu along with TDP MLC and official spokesperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari posed for a photograph with the victim's family. Immediately, the photo was uploaded on the Twitter account.

With Chandrababu Naidu, himself in his capacity as CM, posting the photograph, the police officials could do nothing but remain silent. The AP CM was trolled by netizens for posting the photograph of the girl.

Former chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Professor Shantha Sinha was the first to identify the gaffe and commented that photographs of rape victims or parents should not be divulged in the media under the POCSO act. She pointed out that even Juvenile Justice Act confers similar rights to the child abuse victims.

Realising the gaffe, Chandrababu Naidu's Twitter handle immediately removed the photograph.
