AP: Regulations For Sand Mining Issued Due To Excess Rains
Tadepalli: The Andhra Pradesh government which had earlier approved the new sand mining policy to curb sand mafia in the State has come out with instructions for the regulation of sand mining in the state due to excess rainfall and flooding of rivers.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy issued instructions to this effect during a review meeting on the New Sand Mining Policy on Wednesday.A G.O. was issued to this effect by the AP Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) which is the nodal agency appointed to undertake sand mining and transport.
As per the instructions in the order, due to the heavy rains and rivers flooding in the state since the past 55 days, has made mining difficult in all the major rivers. Due to which excavation of sand reaches and the procedure for excavation and disposal of sand will be limited.
The procedure will be reviewed after three months.
The In-charge of the concerned Village Secretariat shall appoint a Village Volunteer at the sand reach for supervision of the sand operations and ensure smooth functioning of the sand activity, the GO said.
