AP Govt Appoints SIT To Probe Vizag Land Scam
Amaravati: A three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted by the State government to conduct a fresh inquiry in to the allegations of multi-crore scam related to several thousands of acres of land in Visakhapatnam district in the year 2018.
Anakapalli MLA Gudivada Amarnatha Reddy during a press conference on Friday, alleged that the land records connected with Visakhapatnam land scam were tampered immediately after the Hud Hud Cyclone and said that the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government wants to probe the issue in detail.
The newly constituted SIT will conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations of tampering of land records in Visakhapatnam and surrounding mandals involving over 1,000 acres of land in the areas of Madhurawada and Kommadi.
Retired IAS officer Vijay Kumar will head the SIT, with retired IAS officer YS Anuradha, retired district and sessions judge T Bhaskar Rao as members of the SIT. A G.O. was issued to this effect by the government on Thursday.
The main areas of the investigation by the SIT would include:
- All cases of change of classification of govt. lands, assignments made to ex-servicemen
- Cases of land grabbing and encroachment of government land by private individuals,
- Identification of persons who committed tampering of land records
- Officials or non-officials who are beneficiaries of such tampering of land records
The SIT will have to submit a comprehensive report within three months from the day of taking charge.
