National Green Tribunal Inquires Over Ponguleti Petition On Polavaram Waste
New Delhi: The bench headed by AK Goyal investigated the petition filed by Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) over the dumping of Polavarm wastage into the environment. AK Goyal questioned the Central Environmental Department over this case, and even asked the concerned authorities as to why no action was taken against the people who violated Environmental regulations.
The lawyers of the Union Environment department have expressed outrage over why they do not care if environmental regulations are violated. The Goyal-led bench questioned the person about who was responsible for the construction of the Polavaram project, the Andhra Pradesh government lawyer responded saying that the Polavaram project authority is handling the Polavram works.
The tribunal has postponed the hearing to November 7, ordering the CEO to attend. In another petition filed by Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, the NGT said that flood mitigation was a major issue and that the same could be heard in the case of Polavaram dumping case.
