Amaravati: The Bay of Bengal will be in a rough state from August 4 to 7 under the influence of a low monsoon, which will also cause widespread moderate to heavy rainfall in coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh from August 3.

The AP Weather Forecasting and Early Warning Research Centre said in a release here this afternoon said gusty winds up to a speed of 50-70 kmph were likely, with tides reaching a height of 2.5 to 4 meters over north coastal AP. The impact could be felt in at least 35 mandals spread over Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts, Aware said.

While fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during the period, a general advisory has also been issued to people asking them to stay away from the coastal areas. The monsoon low is expected to cause scattered moderate to heavy rainfall over north coastal Andhra from August 3 to 6.

Further, widespread moderate to heavy rainfall has been forecast with a wind speed of 50-70 kmph in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts along the Bay of Bengal, it said. PTI
