‘Sivamani’ PSR Anjaneyulu back In Action, Warns Against Corruption
Amaravati: Cracking a whip on corruption in the Transport department, newly appointed Commissioner PSR Anjaneyulu has issued a stern warning to all corrupt officers to mend their ways if they intend to work in the department.
In a video which is currently going viral on social media, Anjaneyulu is seen telling officials that if they either give or take money for staying in their positions or indulge in trying to stay in their posts either through MLAs recommendations or payment will not be tolerated. He also asked them to convey the same to their colleagues.
With news regarding rampant corruption in his department reaching PSR Anjaneyulu’s notice, he is seen giving a stern warning to Deputy Commissioners and all the way down to Motor Vehicle inspectors. Ever since Anjaneyulu took charge as the commissioner he has taken private travels to task and dealers who are evading Life Tax by creating fake invoices.
There is a buzz among the Transport department employees that transfers in the recent past have taken place without exchange of a penny, and they credit this to the honest officer Sitaramanjenulu.
Soon after taking charge, Anjaneyulu conducted surprise checks across the State for violations of the Motor Vehicle Act by contract carriers, officials of the Transport department on 374 buses in Anantapur, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
Many of the buses were being operated without obtaining valid fitness certificates from the department and two were ferrying passengers beyond permitted distances. During the inspection, MVIs conducted breath analyser tests for drivers of vehicles belonging to Kaveri Travels, Bharathi Travels, Orange Travels, Jabbar Travels, Saleem Travels, KGN Travels and Jayanthi Travels.
"We don’t compromise on safety of passengers travelling in private buses. Simultaneous raids will be conducted at various places across the State in the next few days,’’ said Transport Commissioner PSR Anjaneyulu in a press release issued here.
