AP Govt Extends Amma Vodi Scheme to Inter Students

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has taken another crucial decision. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted a review meeting with the education department officials on Thursday. Having already announced to modernise the government schools in the state and revamp the education system, YS Jagan announced the extension of Amma Vodi Scheme to the Intermediate students as well. The educational scheme, which is to ensure education for every poor kid, will now be applicable to students pursuing Intermediate studies. The meeting held discussions on the implementation of the Amma Vodi scheme.

The government has stated that the Amma Vodi scheme will be applicable to students who are studying in government, private junior colleges and residing in the hostels and residential hostels. Under this scheme, the cash incentive of Rs 15,000 will be given to the mothers who admit their children in schools,

The Chief Minister directed the officials to design programmes for transformation of the Intermediate and higher education sector. Initially, the state Government decided of limiting Amma Vodi Scheme to Government Schools only. But now, the scheme has been extended to Inter students.
